Castle Žirovnice (Jindřichův Hradec a Česká Kanada)

The chateau stands on the rock spit above Hutní Rybník pond in the small town Žirovnic. Originally Gothic castle was built in the 13th century and in the second half of the 14th century it was enlarged and fortified. During the 16th and 17th centuries it was reconstructed and finally it was rebuilt into the chateau. In 1910 the town bought the castle and the building started to be used as the town museum. In the 1960's the chateau burnt down, but it was quickly and completely restored.
