The Gallery Klatovy / Klenová is one of the largest museums of art in the Czech Republic. It has two branches - the first is in Klenová, a small village about 13 kilometres west of Klatovy. Here it administers a huge complex that includes several protected historical buildings: a 19th century chateau which houses a permanent exhibition from the gallery's collections and space for temporary exhibitions, the ruins of a medieval castle, a historical granary, the villa of Mr and Mrs Kotrba and a large farm. The aim is to create a Centre of Contemporary Art, in the last named buildings, and a sculpture park in the castle, park and forestry enclosures.

In Klatovy, the second largest town in the Pilsen region, a historic building on the main square houses the Gallery U Bílého jednorožce, which is one of the most beautiful spaces for the presentation of modern art in the Czech Republic. Exhibitions at the Gallery Klatovy / Klenová are orientated to Czech and foreign art of the Twentieth Century, especially after the Second World War, and the gallery's collection activities are focused on post-war Czech and Slovak art, with the emphasis on the art of exiled artists.
