You can find the sought-after spa of this name in the peaceful town of Lázně Bělohrad, set in the picturesque foothills of the Krkonoše Mountains.

The history of Bělohrad spa goes back a hundred and thirty years. The Prague industrialist Dormitzer bought Bělohrad Manor from Count Aichelburg in 1872. He had a wooden cabin with three bathrooms built on the left bank of the Javorka opposite the Na Dádkách church. The baths were only used in the summer, purely for bathing purpose. Nevertheless, the start of bathing was an important event.

The actual establishment of the Ann´s Peat Spa occurred in 1885 and was the brainchild of the Prussian Countess Anna of Asseburg, who conducted the first experimental treatments using the local peat. This is where the "Anna" in the name comes from. The spa was officially acknowledged as curative in 1888 and was allowed to call itself a sulphurous mud spa.
A large Swiss-style bath house with wings on both sides was built on the current site three years later - in 1891. The wings contained the baths and this original arrangement of the water treatment procedure pavilion has been retained until the present day. The Ann´s Peat Spa developed further at the start of the 20th century. In 1901 an arsenic- and iron-bearing spring, called Anna Marie, was successfully bored in the spa park in Bažantnice. The water's composition makes it an iron-bearing mineral water.

The spa's fame grew. A change to the name was allowed in 1905 and the spa became Lázně Bělohrad. In 1992 returned to the original name of Ann´s Peat Spa. Rebuilding work on the balneology process was completed and a rehabilitation pool was brought into operation in 1991.
