A museum of Czech writer Božena Němcová was founded in 1931 as the 1st literary museum in our country. The museum was housed in the old town hall in Česká Skalice, later it moved into a reconstructed building called "At the White Lion". The museum is concentrated on life and work of B. Němcová, who spent her childhood in nearby Ratibořice Valley. It is arranged so as to show not only the literary work of Božena Němcová but also her private life, family and friends. In the exhibition there are shown unique photos and portraits of B. Němcová, her preserved furniture and her personal things.
