CASTLE BENÁTKY NAD JIZEROU
|
The castle in Benátky nad Jizerou was built in place of a former cloister. It gained its present form in the 18th century by connecting Baroque and Renaissance buildings. The memorial halls remind of the two famous persons who spent some time there ? the astronomer Tycho de Brahe founded the observatory there, and the composer Bedřich Smetana taught music in the Thun family. In the collections you can also find items from Australia.
