Bedřich Šupčík (1898 - 1957) he won the first gold medal for Czechoslovakia in Olympic games in 1924 in sport gymnastics.





Eliška Junková (1900 - 1994) is regarded as one of the greatest female drivers in Grand Prix motor racing history. She won the two-liter sports car class at Nürburgring, Germany, (1927) making her the only woman in history to have ever won a Grand Prix race.





Emil Zátopek (1922 - 2000) Czech athlete and Olympic gold medalist in long distance running. Zátopek was the first athlete to break the 29 minute barrier in the 10,000m run (in 1954). Three years earlier, in 1951, he had broken the hour for running 20 km.





Josef Masopust (1931) Czechoslovakian football player and coach. He was named European Footballer of the Year in 1962 and was selected by the Football Association of the Czech Republic as the country\'s greatest player of the last 50 years in 2004.





Jiří Raška (1941) is the most famous Czech ski jumper, Olympic winner and Czech skier of the century. First Czech winner in the Winter Olympics.





Věra Čáslavská (1942) is a Czech (formerly Czechoslovakian) gymnast. She was generally popular with the public and won a total of 22 international titles.





Pospíšil brothers - Jan (1945) and Jindřich (1942) Czechoslovakian players of cycle ball who won a world championship twenty times.





Jan Kodeš (1946) was a right-handed Czech tennis player who won three Grand Slam events in the early-1970s. Jan Kodeš was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1990.





Petr Jirmus (1957) World Aerobatics Champion, who has won as only one man in the world two times the World Aerobatics Championship (1984 Bekescaba, Hungary; 1986 South Cerney, United Kingdom).





Jan Železný (1966) is a Czech athlete, former world and Olympic champion and world record holder in javelin throw. Železný won the gold at the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympic Games and Silver in the 1988 Olympics as well as three World Championship titles; in 1993, 1995 and 2001.





Jaromír Jágr (1972) is regarded as one of the top ice hockey players in the NHL today, and is one of the best European players that have ever worn an NHL uniform.





Kateřina Neumannová (1973) is a Czech cross country skier. She originaly did flatwater canoeing and downhill skiing and only moved to the cross country skiing when she was sixteen. On February 17, 2005, she won the World Championships gold medal for 10km free. On February 24, 2006, she won the Winter Olympics gold medal for 30 km free.
